The Governor George E. Pataki Center has officially opened its new headquarters at 14 Spring Street in Albany, creating a permanent home for the Center’s growing work in public service, education, mentorship, and civic leadership.

Located in the city where Governor Pataki spent three terms leading New York State, the new Center brings together the history of his administration with a mission focused firmly on the future. At the heart of that mission is the Pataki Fellowship Program.

The Center will welcome college students and young leaders to Albany for firsthand exposure to government and public service. Fellows will learn from former public officials, policy leaders, attorneys, communications professionals, and others who have spent their careers serving New York and the country.

As Governor Pataki emphasized at the opening, the goal is not to teach young people politics. It is to teach them government: how to lead, how to serve, and how to make government work for the people it represents.

The Albany headquarters will also preserve important materials and memories from Governor Pataki’s years in public service, including the leadership and extraordinary work of his administration following September 11th, while serving as a home for the Center’s continuing humanitarian, educational, and civic initiatives.

A legacy built through service now has a permanent home dedicated to preparing those who will serve next.
